The relationship between teenagers and Facebook might soon be ending with an increasing number of youngsters saying they are bored of the social networking site. The popularity of other sites such as Instagram and Snapchat seem to be attracting youngsters to their sites, resulting in reduced traffic on Facebook.
Though Facebook had indicated this behavior change in teenagers in its annual?10-K report, Adam Ludwin got a first-hand experience while testing his photo album app, Albumatic.

Ludwin's test group consisted of youngsters below 25 years, and their feedback indicated teenagers were not happy with the app's reliance on Facebook. "They gave me the typical teenage response: 'We're bored with Facebook," Ludwin told Business Insider.
So now that Facebook's popularity is on the wane, where are teenagers flocking to?
Instagram.
In December 2012, Branch CEO Josh Miller wrote a post on?Medium?titled?"Tenth Grade Tech Trends"?where he analyzed how his 15-year-old sister and her friends used technology. The post showed that his sister "tries to visit Facebook as infrequently as possible" and would log into the social networking site only after her "Instagram Feed updates have been exhausted."
Miller also notes that Facebook Chat has also lost its appeal with teenagers, and this has been replaced with Snapchat.
While Facebook is clearly aware of the gravity of the declining traffic, increased interest in Instagram is also good news for the social networking site. Facebook bought the photo-sharing site for $1 billion early last year, probably foreseeing the threat that Instagram could one day become. And because Instagram was all Facebook wanted to be on the mobile platform, buying it before competitors had a chance made sense.
And despite teens ditching Facebook for Instagram, the networking site showed a 25 percent increase in its users in 2012. "We believe that we are at the forefront of enabling faster, easier, and richer communication between people," Facebook said in its 10-K report. "Facebook has become an integral part of many of our users' daily lives."
